Starting with a gather of burgundy glass this blown vase is actually a hollow sculpture built in multiple layers. The burgundy provides an opaque base color for an application of virgin white glass which becomes the canvas for the other design elements. A gather of clear is applied to the base color before dark metallic oxides are airbrushed onto the piece creating a suspended dichroic pattern. Another clear layer is applied and fumed with rare metals which are iridized. 4.5" W x 5.5" H x 8.5" D
